Under-resourced youth in India face many challenges in obtaining good-quality education, financial constraint being primary among them. This not only prevents them from living up to their full potential, but also hampers their efforts at obtaining stable employment. Through SAGE Foundation, the CSR arm of The Shahani Group, Mrs. Maya Shahani works tirelessly to provide underprivileged youth with the financial resources they need to gain the skills that are in demand and secure white-collar jobs with better incomes, enabling them to become independent and be able to support their families adequately. Most recently, under her guidance, SAGE Foundation and TSCFM announced the Kishore Shahani Scholarship, in memory of her late husband, for 200 women hailing from low-income families impacted by Covid-19. These scholarships will allow them to enroll in TSCFM’s BFSI, Digital Marketing and Business English courses, to obtain skills that are in high demand. Earlier, in 2019, SAGE Foundation secured a grant of INR 76 lakh from JP Morgan, to upskill low-income youth for employment in the BFSI sector. Thereafter, for the second consecutive year in 2020, JP Morgan donated INR 17 crore to help train and upskill 4,800 graduates from low-income backgrounds. Under these initiatives, over 6,000 students have been trained and placed till date across leading companies in the sector. SAGE Foundation and TSCFM partner to provide education support to meritorious under-resourced kids, to obtain professional qualifications and the proper grooming necessary for entry level jobs in sectors such as BFSI, Digital Marketing and Communications. Placement support is also provided to these students, to help them obtain employment with some of India’s leading companies such as Accenture, Yes Bank, Axis Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, HSBC, HDFC Bank, IIFL, KPMG, Motilal Oswal Investment Services, Suryoday Bank, ICICI Bank, SBI Capital Markets, Standard Chartered, Larsen and Toubro, and Stardust.
